Covering the 2003 California Recall Election

Santa Monica, California, September 26th 2003- We had the HI-POD on hand to cover the Gubernatorial recall election as State Congressman Darrel Issa give Arnold Schwarzenegger the endorsement for Governor.

At Mr. Schwarzenegger's volunteer headquarters, we obtained a spot in the press bleachers, but due to the nature of flexibility of the HI-POD to get the shot from virtually anywhere, we didn't need to be in the press bleachers. We were able to give our spot away to a cameraman who couldn't get the shot past a lighting rig that was in his way.

Using the HI-POD, we were able to shoot right over the lighting rig, and right over the crowd in front of us. The crowd of onlookers and other reporters were never in our way, as our camera was 15 feet in the air.
